Instead of remembering the fallen servicemen and women on Memorial Day, the New York Times editorial board decided to publish an editorial about how the United States Military supposedly advocates for white supremacy. Specifically, the editorial board took issue with Military bases being named leaders in the Confederate Army. In their mind, the bases should be renamed.
“It is time to rename bases for American heroes — not racist traitors,” the editorial stated.
Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Jonathan Hoffman slammed the editorial board, saying the group of so-called journalists decided to “attack the US military” instead of paying tribute to the “many stories of valor still waiting to be told this Memorial Day weekend.”
Locking people up until the country is destroyed is “essential” to the Baltimore mayor, Memorial Day and honoring our military dead is not.
Via Fox News:
President Trump was marking Memorial Day with appearances at Arlington National Cemetery and Baltimore’s historic Fort McHenry, honoring fallen military members while also sending a clear signal to the country that his agenda will be business-as-almost-usual amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A 21-gun salute greeted Trump as he arrived at the solemn ceremony by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Monday morning. Trump, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President Pence and second lady Karen Pence attended to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of America’s freedoms.
Trump saluted as members of the military played the National Anthem and Taps while Pence and Defense Secretary Mark Esper stood next to him with their hands on their hearts. Trump paused before the tomb with his hands clasped in front of him, touched the wreath — adorned with a red, white and blue ribbon — and then saluted again.
The military personnel and some VIPs in attendance had been wearing masks on the steps of the monument prior to the arrival of the Trumps and the Pences. But an unknown woman approached the dignitaries and asked everyone to take them off. Much of the group stood socially distanced on the outdoor stairs. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was spotted putting on a mask decorated with stars and stripes as he left the ceremony.
Imagine hanging out at the beach with your kids and some idiot hands them a body bag and tells them their parents are killing grandma for being at the beach…
‘Columbia is a liberal, disgraceful institution’
Great journalism there. How many others are wrong?

The New York Times’ list of 1,000 coronavirus victims displayed at the top of its Sunday edition included the name of at least one individual whose death reportedly had nothing to do with the pandemic.
“U.S. deaths near 100,000, an incalculable loss,” the headline reads, just above the list of 1,000 names, meant to be 1% of the overall toll.
The outlet, however, removed the name and reposted the list via Twitter along with a correction notice:
The U.S. government will likely impose sanctions on China if Beijing implements national security law that would give it greater control over autonomous Hong Kong, White House National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien said Sunday.
The draft legislation represents a takeover of Hong Kong, O’Brien said, and as a consequence U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would likely be unable to certify that the city maintains a “high degree” of autonomy. This would result in the imposition of sanctions against China under the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019, O’Brien said.
Pompeo has already called the proposal a “death knell” for Hong Kong’s autonomy. O’Brien warned that Hong Kong could lose its status as a major hub for global finance.
LOL, brink of?
China said Sunday that relations with the United States were “on the brink of a new Cold War”, fuelled in part by tensions over the coronavirus pandemic, as Muslims around the world celebrated a muted end to the holy month of Ramadan.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Washington had been infected by a “political virus” compelling figures there to continually attack China, but offered an olive branch by saying the country would be open to an international effort to find the coronavirus source.
“It has come to our attention that some political forces in the US are taking China-US relations hostage and pushing our two countries to the brink of a new Cold War,” he told reporters during a press conference at China’s week-long annual parliament session.

On March 22, President Trump took to Twitter and typed out a message in all-caps: “WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!”
That was more than a month ago. And while all 50 states have begun to take some steps toward reopening shuttered businesses and closed restaurants, the pace is achingly slow.
Now, 500 doctors have banded together to tell Trump to mandate an end the coronavirus shutdown, saying it is a “mass casualty incident” that will cause more death and destruction than the virus itself.
CNN's John King just began a question on how "some are trying to make a big deal over" Biden's "you're not black" comment. CNN then played the clip ending with “I extended the Voting Rights Act 25 years. I have a record that is second to none." However, the quote was edited…

Thinking with all this, Turley may be walking away sometime soon, if he hasn’t already.
Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley criticized CNN for “media indulgence” after they ran a selectively edited clip favorable to former Vice President Joe Biden.
“CNN’s John King just began a question on how ‘some are trying to make a big deal over’ Biden’s ‘you’re not black’ comment,” Turley, a self-described liberal and George Washington University law professor said on Twitter. “CNN then played the clip ending with ‘I extended the Voting Rights Act 25 years. I have a record that is second to none.’”
“However, the quote was edited to exclude the next line: ‘The NAACP has endorsed me every time I’ve run. Come on, take a look at my record.’ That is a false statement that the NAACP has publicly rebutted. https://jonathanturley.org/2020/05/23/technically-black-atlantic-columnist-supports-bidens-statement-that-black-trump-supporters-are-not-really-black/… It never endorsed Biden or anyone else.”
Charlamagne tha God: Stop Putting Burden On Black Voters To Show For Dems, Put Burden On Dems To Show Up For Black Voters

Exactly! Not to mention all the rest of the voters as well.
Sounds like Joe Biden’s comment to Charlamagne Tha God during ‘The Breakfast Club’ about how black people who don’t know if they’re going to vote for him ‘ain’t black’ did more damage than Democrats realized. Charlamagne was on with Joy Reid this morning and had this to say.
Yes, Democrats take the black vote for granted.
Dem Rep Val Demings Claims Trump Got Black Republicans To Respond On Biden’s ‘You Ain’t Black’ Remark
She’s literally doing the same thing Biden did – assuming that black people can only speak by command of a white man, that they can’t have independent thought of their own.
"I think it’s interesting that the president searched high and low to find African-American members of the Senate and a former member of Congress to speak out on this issue."@RepValDemings appears to accuse @realDonaldTrump of asking @SenatorTimScott and @MiaBLove to speak out. pic.twitter.com/PWWj1IdGKk

But, before I got to that, I should note that back in March, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated a 3.4 percent fatality rate and Dr. Anthony Fauci estimated that the fatality rate of the coronavirus was about 2 percent.
President Trump was skeptical of both those numbers, particularly the WHO’s estimate: “Well, I think the 3.4 percent is really a false number,” Trump told Sean Hannity. “Now, and this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this. Because a lot of people will have this and it’s very mild. They’ll get better very rapidly. They don’t even see a doctor. They don’t even call a doctor. I think that that number is very high. I think the number, personally, I would say the number is way under 1 percent.”
Police in Hong Kong have fired tear gas against protesters taking part in the first pro-democracy demonstration since China announced plans to impose a new security law on the territory.
Hundreds of demonstrators have been marching through the city centre.
Earlier, 200 senior politicians from around the world issued a joint statement criticising China’s plan.
Signatories called it a “comprehensive assault on the city’s autonomy, rule of law and fundamental freedoms”.
China is seeking to pass a law that would ban “treason, secession, sedition and subversion” in the territory.
